Background and Experience
Dr. Jenkins is an internationally-recognized expert in developing
methods for quantifying C sequestration in forests at local,
regional, and national scales, as well as in understanding the
spatial and temporal patterns of forest productivity and C storage. In addition to being a
Senior Scientist for SIG, she is a Research Assistant Professor at
the University of Vermont and President of Carbon Dynamics, LLC.
She was the lead scientist in developing the biomass equations that
provide the foundation for the biomass estimates in the USDA Forest
Service carbon accounting model, which are also incorporated into
the Forest Carbon Protocols for California's AB32 legislation and
implemented in the US DOE 1605(b) Guidelines. Nominated by the USDA
Forest Service as a US contributor to the 2006 IPCC Good Practice
Guidance for Greenhouse Gas Inventories in the Agriculture, Forestry
and Other Land Use (AFOLU) sector, she was the Lead Author for the
chapters on Settlements (ch. 8) and Other Land (ch. 9), and a
Contributing Author to the chapter on Forests (ch. 3). She has also
been a pioneer in the rapidly-evolving field of GHG measurement and
accounting in settlements and other land.
